(See Time4Learning below and soon on the Homeschool Resources page.) Plus we do the required curriculum from the wonderful Christian Light Education's CLE Homeschool Plus, which keeps all our transcripts etc. We also do daily speech therapy. I just found out about a great deal I wanted to share to help support my group members and homeschool followers! I recently took advantage of this myself too!
As I've probably mentioned before, I love The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine as a resource for my, and other, homeschool families. I get so much encouragement, advice, how-to's etc. from it! Well, right now if you subscribe too you can get some wonderful goodies as a bonus!
-------------------------------- For one, you can have a free Homeschooling with Heart tote bag. This link will show you a picture, and give you all the details on how to get yours.:http://www.theoldschoolhousestore.com/homeschool/Bag-Promo.htm
You'll also receive some free E-Book resources worth over $70 when you subscribe--shipping is FREE to the U.S. The ones I've already seen are really great!
Plus, you'll receive the Spring issue free! Hurry, there are a limited number of bags--when they're gone, they're gone!
The FREE tote is made of poly-canvas with snap closures and shoulder-length handles. It's perfect for the library, a field trip outing, support group meeting, or homeschool convention! Its versatile design makes it the perfect bag to just throw over your shoulder and go! I can't wait to get mine!

They also have another cool item right now I want to mention to you all that sounds like it could help a ton with planning. I want one! Please see "Homeschool Helpers" page (link at left.)

Noah had a great time with his dad, beginning the construction of a working rocket with an engine today, for science. He can't wait to launch it!
We've seen some shows about rocketry, including from the NASA channel. Come back soon for more details!

We got some proof that great field trips work today. Noah came inside with a brown rock he had discovered. He got it wet, and said he was going to paint himself like the Chumash Indians used to do. He learned that firsthand more than a year ago on a field trip with his brother, where they got to paint beards on themselves. So hand=on teaching really sinks in! Yay!

We've been learning about Chile and their unfortunate earthquake. One place to visit to learn more is CNN (please click earthquake pic to left to go there.) Noah is very eager and hopeful that our site's fundraiser for recent earthquake victim's relief (both Chile and Haiti) will be successful. (Please see Dollar Store page, link at far left.) He wants so badly to help them, and even donated the money he's saved up to the cause.
As a tie-in we've also been learning about South America a little in general, and the animals of the rainforest there. Plus, we saw a fantastic "reality" documentary on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) about a trip to visit the Waonobi Tribe. They used to be the most vicious tribe anywhere and killed 6 of 10 of their own people not to mention people who dared to come near them, including 5 missionaries about 50 years ago. But 2 of those missionaries' wives went to live with them afterward, and turned them to God and living peacefully (for the most part.) So though they partially still in the stone age, they happily welcomed the friends and family of the missionaries who recently made the difficult trek to visit them in the Amazon and live as they do, spear fishing, blow dart hunting, you name it.

Rare Wolf Moon to be Biggest and Brightest Full Moon of 2010 Tonight!
Even though he's been sick a couple days with a cold, Noah's excited because tonight is a rare occurence, sometimes called a "Wolf Moon." Here's a great link to tell you all about it, then rush outside to take a look when it's time at your end of the world. Noah just ran in exhuberantly to proclaim that it's rising here, and it's huge! Sorry I didn't tell you earlier, but I didn't know 'til just a little bit ago. Happy moon gazing! We'll do some activities about the moon tomorrow. (Please click moon for lot's info about it.)
